Italian Doll Convention Part 2

The second day of the Italian Doll Convention was all about Poppy Parker !!!!

The Theme of the evening was a Harajuku Manga Party and I loved how many people dressed in theme.

There was a cool exposition by MadKen. He made a serie of amazing pictures that were inspired by all the Iconic Opera’s from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

And as an extra gift we got a box with all the pictures !!!

There was also a nice exposition with many of the Poppy Parker dolls from previous years.

There was even a sample doll on display from David’s personal collection !!!

During the evening there was a buffet, cocktails and karaoke. And before the reveal of the convention doll I had my interview with David but more about that in a later post.

Now it was time for the Exclusive Poppy Parker convention doll.

And here she is.

Her name is Ciao! Poppy Parker and she has an edition size of 250.

And we also got a very cute Ciao! Poppy Sailer Moon inspired bathing suit as an extra gift.

And that was not all we got. IT made a blond hair variation from the Ciao! Poppy Parker !!!! And all the collectors at that went to this Friday night event were able to buy her the next morning !!!

At the end of the evening there was another big surprise. They raffled the sample doll !!!

two dear friends of my tried to run away with her 😉

But my new friend Lamanda was the Lucky winner of this amazing doll !!!

a perfect ending of this amazing night.

20 Reasons to go to IDC in 2018

The Italian Doll Convention opened the registration today for 2018. I had again such a great time last weekend. So if your are thinking to go next year here 20 reasons you should do it

1 Friendships

For me convention is all about seeing my fellow collectors. Seeing my friends and making new friends. Every year I have such a good time here and I aways meet new people.

2 Theme

Next years theme is IDC goes Cartoonia. And this sounds like so much fun. The organization always does such a great job. and I can wait to see what they will come up with for next year.

 3 Poppy Parker

Next year IDC will have his first Poppy Parker event !!!! And this is the first time that an European convention will have an exclusive Poppy Parker event doll !!!

4 Hotel

The venue where IDC take place is Melia Milano. And this is the perfect convention Hotel. Its very Italian chique. And the people working in the hotel are the best. Its always fun to see that they also enjoy the madness that a doll convention brings to a place. It’s situated close to the subway and in a few minutes you are at the Duomo. And they serve a great Aperol Spritz at their lounge terras. For IDC they always have a special room rate so we can spend a little more in the salesroom 😉

5 Largest Fashion Doll Convention

IDC is the largest Fashion Doll Convention in Europe. And they are still growing every year. But they manage to make it in such a way that it feels like a big fam reunion. We are all together and you won’t feel lost.

6 Barbie

And Don’t forget our Queen Barbie. On Saturday evening we celebrate the Love that we have for this Iconic doll during a big Gala diner and it ends with the revealing of the Convention Barbie Doll.

 7 Ooak Barbie Dolls

When you are a fan of ooak Barbie dolls you will love the salesroom on Sunday. Here you will find the ooak artists from Europe. Magia2000, Atelier Sebastian, Lantis Kelly, Creations Cotho and many more.

8 Food

Omg Italian food is amazing !!! Pizza, pasta, risotto you just cant go wrong in Italy. At the back of the hotel there is this small place called Da Peppino were they serve an amazing vitello tonato and were you will always find some conventioneers.

9 Marinella, Mario and Gianni

Without these people there would not be such an amazing convention. These hero’s with their amazing group of people that help them give us this yearly experience of epic doll fun.

10 Fashion Show

IDC has the best Fashion Show at doll convention in the world. It’s so much fun and I am always amazed by amount of work the collectors put in these creations.

And this year 2 sexy lingerie nuns stole the show.

11 Entertainment

This convention has some great life entertainment. Even Madonna preforms at this event !!!!

12 Decoration

I always love the moment when you enter the Gala diner. Its alway such a WOW moment. These guys know how to decorate.

13 Italian Men

Need I say more.

14 International

This convention is very International with people attending from all over the world. Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, The Netherlands, Swiss, USA, Israel, Portugal, Greece and many more

15 DISCO!!!

These Italians know how to Party. Good music and an open bar. I’M IN !!!

16 Doll Diversity

What I love about the salesroom is that its so diverse. Of course you can find here your Barbie and Integrity dolls. But you will see dolls you never knew they existed. I love that IDC shows this diversity in Fashion and Art Dolls.

17 Fun Workshops

This is a bit of self promotion. Since the ast 4 years I am one of the collectors that give a workshop at IDC and I LOVE it. Its so much fun to craft with your fellow collectors.

18 Charity

I love it that conventions do a lot for Charity and also IDC. They have an amazing Ebay Charity auction. During the Saturday Gala diner the dolls from this auction are on display. And on Sunday there is a big raffle with many amazing prices also for charity.

19 Fashion Capital

Milan is one of the biggest fashion capitals of the world. GUCCI, Prada, Valentino and many more. They al have their flagship stores here. So combine your Fashion Doll shopping with some Fashion shopping.

20 Fun for Non Collectors.

This is a convention that is also a lot off fun for non fashion doll collectors. So bring your husband, girlfriend, boyfriend. neighbour or mom like I do. They will have a great time !!!

IDC 2017 MAGIA2000 Bridal Collection

Hi Guys I am back from IDC and I had such a great time. A big thank you to Rebecca from Inside the Fashion Doll Studio for taking over my blog And keep you guys updated with all the fun at IDC.

So yesterday morning the IDC opened their doors to the showroom. And we doll collectors love to SHOP !!! And of course the first table I had to visit was the table from Magia2000. And OMG they guys created such an amazing Bridal collection.

And I loved it to see that some of the dolls were inspired by the Dutch Designers Victor & Rolf.

One of the girls went home with me and I am soooooo in love with her. Het name is Modern Bride in London.

She was the doll that they guys sneaked on their Instagram account in the week before IDC started.

2017 IDC–Saturday

Saturday festivities started with workshops.  Rogier gave one on miniature hat making.  As the recipient of some of Rogier’s amazing miniature millinery creations, I am sure everyone learned a lot and had a fantastic time.

After workshops, it was time for the fashion show.  There are some seriouisly talented collectors that attend the IDC.  Look at some of these amazing recrations of Barbie fashions for their fashion show.  For more images from this event go to Rogier’s Flickr page.

There was a whole lot of fun too.

Since the theme of this years IDC was Wedding…for dinner, everyone attended a wedding reception.

Lots of entertainment, a chance to see all of the auction dolls and, the presentation of the convention doll!

IDC Begins in Milan!!

 

Hello all!  Rebecca here guest blogging for Rogier as he enjoys the delights of the Italian Doll Convention this weekend.  Today was the beginning of the big party in Milan and Rogier has some big news to share.  Keep reading….

Festivities began with registration.

Then it was time for first event…a Pajama Party.

Lots of fun entertainment and a special announcement!!  Next year, for the first time ever, there will be a special Poppy Parker doll at IDC.  Seriously?!!  How exciting!

There was also a special event doll for the Pajama Party.

IDC Charity Auction 2017

Today the Charity Auction from the Italian Doll Convention started. Ooak doll artists from all over the world created specials doll for this Charity Auction. This year the charity is Cesvi and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to this Charity.

Dolly Treasure and Popovy Sisters at IDC

IDC had some exciting new last weekend. 3 famous doll artists are joining the fun in Milan.

On Sunday Eileen Lam is joining the salesroom. Eileen Lam is the artists behind Dolly Treasure. I love the work of this doll photographer. There will be an exposition of her work and she will be signing her books.

The other 2 artists are the Popovy Sisters Elena and Ekaterina. On Sunday they will also have an exposition of their work at IDC. Their dolls are so special I cant wait to see them.

IDC 2016–Cocktails and Barbie for President Gala

After the amazing fashion show, it was time for cocktails, nibbles and a really amazing dinner and convention doll reveal. 

 

Once Cocktail hour was over, it was time to go to the Gala dinner.

And our fabulous table host Rogier and OOAK artist and table hostess Corinne Thorner.

It sounds like the evening was a huge success with lots of money raised for charity…approximately 20,000 Euros!!

The end of the evening brought the anticipated convention doll reveal!  Many were thinking it was time for a brunette articulated silkstone…and they were proven correct.

IDC 2016–Texas Ranch Fashion Parade

Most Barbie conventions have some type of fashion show.  The Italian Doll Convention certainly followed the tradition.
