Timeless Classic

This week Jason & Dimon released images of 2 new Mizi dolls from the Timeless Classic collection.

The first one is called Sabrina.

Inspired by Audrey Hepburn in the movie Sabrina dressed in her famous gown by Givenchy.

This look has been a big inspiration for doll company’s in the past. Like Mattel, Pullip and Integrity Toys.

The second doll is called Rapunzel.

Of course because her long braid

But I also think she is inspired by Audrey Hepburn.

Audrey Hepburn photographed by Howell Conant at a farm near her house in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, February 1962. The pictures were used in a fashion editorial titled “Audrey Stars in Givenchy Styles” for LIFE Magazine’s May 1962 issue.

Italian Doll Convention Part 3

After a great day with Poppy Parker the Saturday was about Barbie at IDC. In the morning there were some great lectures.

The first one was “Manga in Doll Culture” By Ada Bogoevici Soci. From the doll blog Papusile Mele. I loved it !!! Such a trip down memory lane for me with all these cartoons I watched as a Child. all these keep an eye on her blog and facebook page because she will upload a video of this presentation.

The second presentation was “Fashion In Licca World by Antonio Russo and Kazuko Hosokawa. For me this was such an interesting story because I knew nothing about the history of Licca. And its so fascinating that it all started out with a doll house.

And now I am kinda obsessed by this miniature version from the vintage Licca house.

The last lecture was a #PoppyParkerly by Daniela Ferrando. And she had a very interesting presentation about Poppy Parker a modern fashion doll that is produced these day and how she reflects the romantic vision we have from the sixties. She also will upload her presentation and more later this week on facebook.

In the afternoon Ada Bogoevici Soci. From the doll blog Papusile Mele had an interview with Mattel designer Linda Kyaw.

Here Ada asked questions to Linda from collector.

And then it was time for the Fashion Show. This is always one of my favorite things from IDC. And as always the costumes were so good !!!

 

 

IDC 2016–Cocktails and Barbie for President Gala

After the amazing fashion show, it was time for cocktails, nibbles and a really amazing dinner and convention doll reveal. 

 

Once Cocktail hour was over, it was time to go to the Gala dinner.

The amazing Monica Nuñez del Castillo!

And our fabulous table host Rogier and OOAK artist and table hostess Corinne Thorner.

It sounds like the evening was a huge success with lots of money raised for charity…approximately 20,000 Euros!!

The end of the evening brought the anticipated convention doll reveal!  Many were thinking it was time for a brunette articulated silkstone…and they were proven correct.

Last but certainly not least…our Rogier received an award tonight from the IDC!!!  A well deserved recognition for his efforts and work in the collecting community. Congratulations Rogier and Dutch Barbie World!!!  ** Thanks to Jim Taylor again for this photo!!**

Coach Barbie

Since a few days there is this online Coach Barbie competition that you can enter. When you go to the Barbie Collector site this screen will pop-up.

You can enter this competition and choose your favorite bag for Barbie. One of these bags will be sold with the Coach Barbie that will come out on August the 7th . And when you win the competition you will get all 4 of these gorgeous mini bag’s for your girl. I love the collaboration between Barbie Mattel and Coach. For the first time Barbie will have real leather and beautiful detailed bags.

Ok so we have to wait until August the 7th before Mattel reveals this new Coach Barbie on BarbieCollector.com. Only one thing. For some reason the official Barbie store in Malaysia is already selling this girl. And they posted this picture on Facebook just a few hours ago.

First the box, I think It’s so stylish. I love it that they made this very minimalistic box in pure red. The Coach Barbie is also a very beauty. Love her dark brown hair and I think the outfit is also very stylish. I’m very curious how the dress looks underneath that trench coat.  And of course which bag they choose to sell with this girl. I think it’s in that white dust bag. It’s big enough to keep al four of those bags……..

An other fun thing is that a shorter version of the trench coat is available on the Coach Website.
